Announcements:

The Surrey Eagles are offering free youth (up to age 16) and adult tickets for the Teddy Bear Toss Hockey Game on Sunday, December 21, at the South Surrey Arena, when the Eagles take on the Chilliwack Chiefs. Fans are encouraged to bring new teddy bears or stuffed toys, which can be exchanged at the front table for toss-ready bears and thrown onto the ice when the Eagles score their first goal. All collected toys will be donated to hospitals and local charities. Rotarians and guests are invited to attend. Please contact Irene Dahl (irenedahl10@gmail.com) by December 16 with the number of youth and adult tickets requested. Tickets will be available for pickup at the Will Call door at 3:15 pm on game day.

Members were also thanked for their generous support of the Christmas Hampers for families referred through the Trauma Counselling Department at Sources. The adopting families and “hamper elves” have been working hard to assemble the hampers, each of which includes Save-On-Foods gift cards to help families purchase needed groceries. These hampers will bring warmth and joy to families during the holiday season and are scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday, December 17.

Following the early conclusion of the meeting, members were invited to drive or carpool to Brella’s Crescent Housing Society at 12882 26 Avenue (South Building) to join in the festivities. Upon arrival, attendees are asked to call 778-558-9669 at the door. This year, our Rotary tree is being cared for by a kindergarten class at Bayridge Elementary, led by teacher Monique van Tuenenbroek. The children have created the decorations, will decorate the tree, and will sing carols. Additional upcoming dates include the Nature Celebrators Club Multicultural Fundraising Gala on January 24 (details to follow in BITW) and the Club AGM on January 27.
