We were pleased to welcome Maura Fitzpatrick from PLEA Community Services as our guest speaker. The Club also recognized Sargam Bhanot as our Leaders of Tomorrow winner, joined by her mother Bhavita Sharma and grandmother Anita Sharma. We were honoured to welcome Ernie Klassen, MLA for Surrey South, who presented an official message from the Prime Minister of Canada in recognition of Lunar New Year.
Maura shared insights into the important work PLEA does in supporting vulnerable children, youth, and families in our communities. Members appreciated the thoughtful discussion and opportunity to learn more about the organization’s impact.
It was wonderful to celebrate Sargam’s achievement alongside her family. Their presence made the recognition especially meaningful.
Ernie Klassen was joined by Kieran Dhaliwal, Executive Assistant / Office Manager, and presented the Prime Minister’s message extending warm wishes to the South Surrey–White Rock community. The message highlighted renewal, unity, and the important contributions of Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese Canadian communities to Canada’s strength and diversity.
Additional guests included Kathy Booth, Ken Robinson (Rotarian from Glenwood Springs, Colorado), and Uta Nagel.
